Breathelast & Cap De Craniu - Split It Out EP

Greetings brothers and sisters of the Metalhead Spotted community!

Today we’re gonna jump a bit back in time, more precisely on the 30th of December, 2013, when two of the most notorious groups from the Romanian underground scene – Post Hardcore/Metalcore icons, Breathelast and Grind Death Metal ass whoopers Cap De Craniu - joined forces to release a wonderful split EP, entitled "Split It Out". The EP consists of 8 songs and 2 other bonus tracks and was supported in December 2013 by the two bands in a memorable gig in a well-known venue from Bucharest, Romania – Fabrica Club. Breathelast and Cap De Craniu also released music videos for the songs included on Split It Out – 'Wolves" & the more recent "Sinking Ships" by Breathelast and ”The World between Dream and Reality and the Man without a Shadow” by Cap De Craniu, respectively.

Now, in a nutshell, I will spell a couple of thoughts about the bands, but I wouldn't too keep and bore you guys too much, so here it goes:
Breathelast are reckoned for the great dosage of delivery on stage, these guys feel their music by every lyric, chord, note or beat and they’re not shy to show it either. Mihai easily can be noted as an icon and example of a front man, especially for the upcoming younger musicians; besides his smooth-n-always-nice-to-everyone character, the intensity of his live display is overwhelming! This dude can make a crowd go nuts!

Cap De Craniu is the type of band that can own a show through their performances. Always harsh, precise and heavy, not a single doubt that CDC is one of the top dogs of the Romanian metal scene, these boys have what it takes to go beyond the country borders and impress every audience there is!
For those eager to listen to ”Split It Out”, just follow the link beneath.
*Note : You can even FREE DOWNLOAD/NAME YOUR PRICE!

Don’t forget to check out the videos, here’s  ”Sinking Ships” by Breathelast and ”TWBDARATMWAS” by Cap De Craniu

The distribution of the physical version in Italy, UK and U.S.A. is planned for the next spring. Amorphous is a natural evolution for the band, a good mix between Post-Hardcore, Sludge and Death Metal. The first band feedback about Amorphous:
Amorphous is the end of a path and the beginning of a new one, it represents the start of something indefinite and indecipherable. Our music reflects the instability and the uncertainty we live in, the social changes make us unstable: we are on the verge of ruin and hoping for a better future is nothing more than a utopia.

CRAWLING CHAOS - REPELLENT GASTRONOMY : NEW PROMO MATERIALS AVAILABLE FROM MEMORIAL RECORDS

Crawling Chaos is a Death Metal band born in the late 2005 in Rimini, Italy. Driven by the various influences and different musical tastes of its members, immediately after its birth the band spent a lot of time
rehearsing, playing covers and
trying to find the right sound. In
2007 the line-up was almost stable, and the band officially began its live career.

In January 2009, Crawling Chaos released its first demotape based on original songs. It was called Goatsuckers, a completely homemade 20 minutes EP. The band obtained
positive and interesting reviews by
the metal underground media.
However, it was just a nice
appetizer - mainly distributed for
promotional purposes. In the following years Crawling Chaos continued its stage activity and plunged deep in the writing process of new material.
In 2011 the line-up changed and the band got its current arrangement: Manu (guitar, vocals), Andre (guitar), Gabri (bass) and Edo (drums).

In December 2012, Crawling Chaos finally recorded its first full-length, Repellent Gastronomy, at Domination Studio. Produced and
mixed by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Empyrios), the album consists of 13 tracks and a total running time of about 45 minutes. The first track, Rue d’Auseil , is based on a piece called The Music of Erich Zann for contrabass solo written by the Ukrainian composer Alex Voytenko and performed by Anton Zhukov. The disquieting artwork, based on original illustrations by the band’s drummer Edo, has been
realized by Simone Bertozzi
(Mnemic, The Modern Age Slavery). Repellent Gastronomy released on
November 12th, 2013, through
Memorial Records. Crawling Chaos’s music is a mixture between old school and some of the new trends of the extreme fringes of metal. In particular, Crawling Chaos draws inspiration by bands such as Lamb of God, Nile, Fear Factory, Death, Cannibal Corpse and the late Behemoth. The narrative dimension of the band’s lyrics is often reinforced using samples, an element that is also crucial on stage.

Metalhead Spotted‘s Top 5 Thrash Metal Albums of 2013

5) Toxic Holocaust- Chemistry of Consciousness

Modern thrash with kind of repetitive but at the same time killer riffs and the brutal harsh vocals. The bands shows true musicianship with this album release and elevates them up to the status as bands like Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus and Kreator.

4) Havok- Unnatural Selection

Riffs and drumming straight from hell! All I see is thrash, and that's good enough for me. Unnatural Selection sounds like Havok truly coming into form. songwriting quality makes the songs all impressive overall. Havok is a new band (formed in 2009) but this sounds like they are, straight from the 80s.

3) Mortar- Ground Zero

Very old school sounding. crushing riffs with face melting thrash metal. I like the way it sounds pure old school thrash metal. Vicious riffing, striking drums and ripping vocals are in the best thrash tradition. They have their own unique sound.

2) Death Angel- The Dream Calls for Blood

This sounds like new wave thrash. It makes we want to buy a hammer and thrash the things out. It’s easily their most consistent release. This is mature, well written, played and produced thrash record.

1) Sodom- Epitome of Torture

They're not new to the thrash scene. One of the many great albums by Sodom, it's as destructive as their past albums. Aggression is quite noticeable here. Despite an epic thrash riffing and drumming, It sounds really enjoyable.

Metalhead Spotted‘s Top 5 Death metal Albums of 2013

1. Carcass -Surgical Steel

Surgical Steel is a flurry of intricate riffs, grinding solos, and exploding drums that result in a constant assault on your senses. This album not only puts Carcass back on the map, but it lives up to their legendary past. This album deserves your full attention

2. Suffocation -Pinnacle of Bedlam

It sounds tight, modern, and dense. There’s a million riffs being thrown at your head, but there’s a clarity that makes it enjoyable.Pinnacle of Bedlam is an unrelenting barrage of old-school New York death metal, which is exactly what fans want and what Suffocation deliver with full, uncompromising force. (Nuclear Blast)

3. Gorguts- Colored Sands

Each song is heavy but also jazzy and complex. It is dark, brutal, and punishing, yet it is also very melodic and beautifull. Don’t think, don’t analyze, just listen and succumb

4. Amon Amarth-Deceiver of the Gods

Amon Amarth has a solid track record of releasing good albums, and Deceiver of the Gods is no exception.Powerful guitar riffs and melodies, companied with clean growls and aggressive drumming put a fantastic melodic death metal sound that Amon Amarth have become known for. Deceiver of The Gods is  an indication of the band becoming  complecent

5. Autopsy-The Headless Ritual

The Headless Ritual is a massive album. The sound is sludgy and death-defyingly extreme. If ever you want anything half as good as the band’s first two albums, it will doubtlessly be this.

DAVE MUSTAINE DOES A BELLY DANCE, AND NAMES HIS BAND AFTER TOOTHPASTE

In 1989, I received a gift certificate for a record store called Bambuco, in Bogota's Unicentro shopping mall. I eagerly anticipated the day that I'd be able to use the certificate, since I was already devoting pretty much every waking moment of my day to thinking about metal bands, drawing concerts by metal bands, designing logos for metal bands and so on. This being late 80s Colombia, however, the selection of metal records at local stores was almost always limited to one Ozzy record, and maybe another by the Europe (authors of that timeless classic, the Final Countdown). With that in mind, imagine my surprise when Bambuco had a copy of Megadeth's So Far, So Good, So What on their shelves, among several copies of the latest Julio Iglesias album. Though Megadeth was didn't interest me much, the thought of being able to buy something heavier than Europe was intoxicating, so I got it. Upon taking it home, I was blown away by the speed in the opening track, but hated the whiny vocals, even then. Nevertheless, I was thrilled.

Soon after I got home and listened to the record a few times, my brother called from a friend's house. I was so excited to tell him about the record, that I made a simple mistake that continues to haunt me to this day. I told him, "I got a new record! It's awesome, but I don't know if you'll like it. It's by the band Mentadent". Yes ladies and gentlemen, in my excitement, I had neglected to realize the band's actual name, and had confused it with the brand of toothpaste that had been recently released in Colombia.

And now, to celebrate this story, I bring you this animated GIF that I put together for all of you. Enjoy it, and if you link to it, or post it somewhere, please be kind enough to credit Metalhead Spotted. I mean, after all, how many sites tell you unbelievably thrilling stories about thinking a band was named after toothpaste?

WHO ARE THE TOP TEN METAL LYRICISTS?

Justin M. Norton over at Invisible Oranges has been killing it this week. Yesterday, he wrote a really great piece about entitled “Why Ghost Matters,” which you should definitely check out, especially if, for some reason, you’re still not convinced that those Swedes are the real deal; now, he’s unveiled his list of the Top 10 Metal Lyricists, which, I imagine, will cause exactly the kind of shit storm that makes the internet so damn fun in the first place.
And, hey, I don’t agree with all of his inclusions (although I certainly agree with some of ‘em, like one Mr. J.R. Hayes from Pig Destroyer). But, again, the debate is what’s so much fun about these kinds of things. Lists don’t really “mean” anything — they’re just the opinions of one individual or a group of individuals. But what’s great about them is that they get people thinking; even if you disagree with the choices, you have to figure out a way to articulate exactly why you disagree with the choices, to hopefully come up with a retort more sophisticated than “You’re wrong and you’re a douche for disagreeing with me.” (Although, clearly, some internetters fall back on that “reasoning,” too.)
